If you are looking for a MagicBrief alternative, it is because MagicBrief is gone: it closed on July 31, 2026, and its team now builds Canva Grow inside Canva. Pick Canva Grow if you used MagicBrief for reports on your own Meta and TikTok ad accounts; it is the official successor, available to Canva users with usage tiers by plan. Pick ViralDrop if you used it to study other brands' creatives: it breaks down public TikTok, Reels and YouTube videos and alerts you when a competitor's post takes off, from $9 a month.
ViralDrop is best for: creative strategists and UGC teams researching what works in short-form video before they brief it.
Skip ViralDrop if: you need spend, ROAS or creative performance from a connected ad account. ViralDrop does not connect to ad accounts.

MagicBrief sat where creative strategy meets performance data. Its Insights dashboard built reports and analyses from ad accounts you connected, and those reports could be exported as CSV. Comparison and Co-pilot reports sat alongside the standard Overview. Its Inspire dashboard was a place to save publicly available ads for reference, so a team could keep a swipe file of other brands' creatives next to its own numbers.
That pairing, your own results beside what the market was running, is what made it useful to agencies and in-house ad teams. The shutdown FAQ is candid about what happened next: Canva acquired MagicBrief, and the team spent the following year building Canva Grow, a creative analytics and ad performance product inside Canva. With that live, MagicBrief closed on July 31, 2026 at 8 PM EST.
Two details matter if you were a customer. Insights reports could be exported as CSV before the closing date, but Inspire collections had no bulk export, because they held other companies' ads. And MagicBrief never stored your underlying ad data, so your campaigns, spend and creative performance are still in Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads, ready to connect to another tool.
ViralDrop covers the research half of what MagicBrief did, and goes further on video. Instead of saving an ad to a board, you paste a public TikTok, Instagram Reel, YouTube Short or Facebook video and get an analysis of it: the key frames, the text on screen, the transcript, and the split into hook, body and call to action. You can see why a creative holds attention, not only that it exists.
From that analysis, a rewrite keeps the structure and writes two scene-by-scene scripts for your product and audience, ready to hand to a creator as a brief. You can analyse up to 20 videos in one batch, download the original MP4 of a public video for your swipe file, or run Trends Research on a niche to see what is taking off across TikTok, Reels and Shorts.
The part MagicBrief never had is tracking. Add competitor accounts on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube and ViralDrop checks their new posts twice a day. Each post is compared with that account's own normal for videos of the same length, and when one clearly beats it you get an email. What ViralDrop does not do is read your ad accounts: there is no spend, ROAS or CSV of campaign results here. For that, Canva Grow is the direct successor.
If your old Inspire boards are gone, start with the brands you noted down. Add their accounts to tracking, and the next post that beats their usual will reach you by email. Paste the ads you remember into a batch analysis, and you have a rebuilt swipe file with a breakdown attached to every entry.
MagicBrief itself has no price any more. Its FAQ says billing was cancelled when the shutdown was announced and nobody would be charged again. MagicBrief customers were offered six months of Canva Business for free, with the last day to redeem a code on September 30, 2026.
Canva Grow is available to all Canva users, with different usage tiers across plans; the MagicBrief FAQ names Canva Business as the plan with the highest limits. Check Canva's own plans page for current prices.
Our plans are monthly, with no annual commitment: Starter $9 for 100 credits, Creator $29 for 400, Agency $59 for 900. An analysis costs 5 credits, a rewrite 5, a Trends Research run 20, and competitor tracking is included on every plan without spending credits. Credits you do not use this month carry into the next while you are subscribed, up to two months' worth, and a failed run returns its credits.
Every video you analyse comes with its hook, structure, on-screen text and transcript.
You stop scrolling competitors' feeds: their standout posts are flagged and sent to you.
A rewrite turns a proven structure into two scripts for your product.
Paste public links. There is no TikTok, Instagram or Meta login to grant.
New accounts start with free welcome credits. Paste a public TikTok, Reels or YouTube link from your old swipe file and see the breakdown.
It already has. MagicBrief closed on July 31, 2026 at 8 PM EST, and its site now shows only a shutdown notice and FAQ. The team joined Canva and built Canva Grow, which the notice points customers to.
It depends on which half you used. For analytics on your own Meta and TikTok ad accounts, Canva Grow, built by MagicBrief's team. For researching other brands' short videos and tracking competitors, ViralDrop. Rebuilding a whole stack? See our guide to social media manager tools.
Yes. ViralDrop gives new accounts free welcome credits, enough to analyse a creative from your old swipe file before paying. Canva Grow is available to all Canva users, with usage tiers that differ by plan.
They closed with the platform. Because Inspire boards held other companies' ads, MagicBrief offered no bulk export and suggested noting the brands and ads you wanted to keep. Those public videos can be analysed again by link.
The platform is no longer accessible, so the CSV export from Insights is gone. Your campaign data was never stored by MagicBrief and remains in your ad platforms. For other requests, the FAQ points to MagicBrief's support email.
