A TokScript alternative makes sense when you need more than the words of a video. Pick TokScript if you mostly need transcripts in bulk: its paid plans have unlimited transcripts from $10 a month, bulk imports and a REST API on the annual plan. Pick ViralDrop if you want to know why a video worked and when a competitor's post takes off: every plan, from $9 a month, includes a hook-and-structure breakdown, script rewrites and competitor tracking with email alerts.
ViralDrop is best for: creators, marketers and agencies who study competitors' short videos and turn what worked into their own scripts.
Skip ViralDrop if: you need hundreds of plain transcripts a month, bulk exports or an API. TokScript is built for that and costs less per transcript.

TokScript is a transcript tool first, and a good one. The free plan gives you 5 transcripts and 5 translations a day, with no card required, and a Chrome extension that copies a transcript from the video page. The Monthly plan at $10 removes the daily cap and adds bulk imports of links, whole profiles and collections of up to 3,000 videos, HD downloads and a cloud library of everything you have processed. Its pricing page lists TXT, XML, JSON and CSV exports.
It also goes past plain text. The pricing page lists three AI agents: a Viral Hook Generator, a Viral Script Writer and a Virality Explainer. Developers get a REST API on the Annual plan, and an MCP server with 22 tools brings transcripts, downloads and profile data into Claude and ChatGPT. If your workflow is pulling hundreds of transcripts into a spreadsheet or a pipeline, that is hard to beat for the price.
ViralDrop starts from the other end: one video at a time, and the question of why it worked. An analysis pulls key frames, reads the on-screen text, transcribes the speech and breaks the video into hook, body and call to action. A rewrite then keeps that structure and adapts it to your product and audience, as two scene-by-scene scripts.
The second difference is tracking. On every plan you add competitor accounts on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. ViralDrop checks their new posts twice a day and compares each one with that account's own normal for videos of the same length, not with a global average. When a post clearly beats it, you get an email. Tracking spends no credits. We did not find this kind of ongoing tracking on TokScript's pricing or MCP pages; its tools pull profile data and research creators on request instead.
Transcripts are still part of the job. ViralDrop transcribes public TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook videos of up to 120 minutes, includes timestamps, and lets you copy the text or download SRT and VTT subtitles. What it does not have is a bulk export to spreadsheets or an API, so a team that feeds transcripts into its own pipeline will miss both. A team that reads the transcript next to the breakdown, and then writes a script from it, will not.
If transcripts are all you need, TokScript is cheaper. Its Monthly plan is $10 with unlimited transcripts, and the Annual plan is $39 for the year, which works out to $3.25 a month. On September 30, 2026 its Lifetime plan was shown at $69 one-time as a limited deal, normally $199.
ViralDrop's Starter plan is $9 a month for 100 credits. A transcript costs 2 credits for each started 10 minutes of video, so a month of Starter covers a few dozen short transcripts, not an unlimited stream. The math changes when you use analysis and tracking: the same credits pay for full breakdowns at 5 credits each, and competitor tracking comes with the plan. Unused plan credits roll over while you stay subscribed, up to two months' worth.
Not better at everything. Better at research on what makes short videos work.
Hook, structure, key frames and on-screen text in one analysis, with the transcript included.
Tracked accounts are checked twice a day, and you get an email when a post beats its account's own normal.
A rewrite keeps what worked and writes two versions for your product and audience.

TokScript. Its paid plans have unlimited transcripts and bulk imports. ViralDrop charges credits per transcript, which suits research on selected videos rather than transcribing a whole library in bulk.
